Hidden Neighbours

The quiet street
A patter of feet
Running inside
Questions come to mind
I stand outside
Inside, what would I find?
Different homes, different situations
All sorts of information
If walls could talk
What clues could they drop?
What could they be?
What is it they see?
A home of despair
Where no one cares
Cupboards are bare
Where love is rare
A home of deceit
Anger is their heat
One person wins, the other is defeated
One loved one has just been beaten
A home of fear
A loved one so dear
Hides in a closet
An evil force it has met
Loss of self esteem
Needs to be redeemed
Unanswered questions
Lost in the confusion
All these secrets
All, involved, frets
What if someone finds out?
And asks "What's this all about?"
A home of sadness
Where someone has an illness
Family, close and under stress
Love is the test
All the worries and commotion
The insights and emotions
The innocent are pure
Looking for a cure
Not all situations are the same
The conversation is tame
Communication is open
Nothing lost, lots to gain
A home of happiness
All minds are at rest
Lots of laughter
Smiles have been mastered
A home of honesty
All words are said with sincerity
Hugs are shared
Within a family who cares
Lest we not forget
I leave you with this thought:
Love yourself first
Love we all thirst
Stop... Look... Smell... the flowers
They You can love others
